Transforming a 20-Year-Old TTDI Double Storey into a Modern Haven
Nestled in the heart of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), a once-typical 20-year-old double-storey house has emerged from the cocoon of time as a breathtaking butterfly of modernity and style. “Anew Abode,” as it is now aptly named, stands as a beacon of transformation, blending contemporary aesthetics with subtle oriental influences in a harmonious dance of old and new.
Client’s Vision: The client’s vision for “Anew Abode” was clear and concise: they sought a practical and durable design that would withstand the test of time. They also desired a touch of vibrancy, a splash of personality that would set their home apart from the rest. With these guidelines in mind, the IQI Concept design team set out to reimagine both the exterior facade and interior layout changes for this 2713 square feet home.
Exterior Facade: The initial impression of the house was one of outdated charm, with an overgrown garden and a single shaded car park. To address this, the team embarked on a journey of transformation, starting with the extension of the car porch to accommodate two cars. Opting for a rich brown hue for the facade, the house now exudes a sense of warmth and sophistication. A fixed glass window was installed along the side of the house, allowing natural light to flood the car porch and creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.
Interior Brilliance: Stepping inside “Anew Abode,” one is immediately struck by the sense of space and airiness that permeates the home. The living room, with its cobalt blue TV console, serves as a focal point, adding a vibrant splash of color that contrasts beautifully with the neutral palette of the walls and flooring. The ceiling design, with its sleek linear LED strip lights, not only enhances the modern aesthetic but also creates a sense of height and openness. Motorized Hunter Douglas blinds provide both functionality and style, allowing the client to control the amount of natural light entering the room with ease.
Kitchen and Dining Delights: The kitchen has been transformed into a chef’s paradise, with an extension to the back of the house creating a larger area that includes an indoor laundry space. Designer backsplash tiles add a touch of elegance, while the fully imported Spanish sintered stone countertop ensures durability and functionality. Various kitchen accessories have been incorporated to maximize organization, ensuring that every inch of space is utilized efficiently. A skylight, featuring a bio clean glass, illuminates the laundry area and facilitates the drying of clothes, adding a touch of eco-friendliness to the design.
First Floor Oasis: Ascending the staircase with its see-through glass panel, one is greeted by the family area on the first floor, with sleeping quarters on either side of the house. The master bedroom, in particular, showcases a sophisticated design with an ebony blue bed head feature wall, complemented by a pop of orange from the bedside pendant light. All windows in the house have been replaced with high-quality security mesh, ensuring both safety and longevity. The ensuite bathroom, once dated and cramped, has been transformed into a luxurious space with dark navy blue tiles, adding a touch of opulence to the shower area.
